Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library Advisory Board

The Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library Advisory Board (LVMAB) is dedicated to enhancing and promoting the Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library as a vital community resource. The LVMAB works closely with the City Council to ensure the library meets the evolving needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Library Advocacy: The LVMAB champions the library's role as a cornerstone of the community, advocating for its continued growth and development.
  • Policy Development: The Board provides recommendations to the City Council on library policies, programs, and services.
  • Community Engagement: The LVMAB fosters a strong connection between the library and the community through outreach and engagement initiatives.

Board Composition:

The LVMAB consists of seven (5) regular members and one (1) alternate member, all appointed by the City Council. Members are expected to be residents of Lancaster with a passion for libraries and community engagement.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Interest in library services and the role of libraries in the community
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in volunteer management or community outreach (preferred)
  • Knowledge of library operations and trends (beneficial)

Meetings and Terms:

  • Terms: Board members serve two-year terms, with the alternate member serving a one-year term.
