The Lancaster Recreational Development Corporation (4B) (LRDC) plays a vital role in enriching our community by developing and diversifying recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities. Established under the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979, the LRDC works collaboratively with the City Council to identify and implement strategic projects that enhance the City's overall appeal. The LRDC fulfills several key responsibilities:
- The LRDC creates and executes a strategic plan outlining recreational, educational, and cultural development projects for the city.
- The LRDC is responsible for managing financial resources, including budgeting, fundraising, and securing grants to support project development.
- The LRDC oversees the planning, construction, and maintenance of recreational facilities and programs.
Board Composition:
The LRDC is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors appointed by the Lancaster City Council. Board members are selected based on their expertise and commitment to community development.
Recommended Knowledge, Backgrounds, and Qualifications:
- Experience in non-profit management, finance, or real estate
- Knowledge of recreational facility development and management
- Understanding of community development and planning
- Passion for enhancing the quality of life for Lancaster residents
Meetings and Terms:

- Terms: Members are appointed to a two-year term.
