The Neighborhood Services Department focuses on strengthening neighborhoods and improving the quality of life for residents. The Neighborhood Services Department is comprised of the following divisions:
The Animal Services division works closely with residents to obtain and encourage continued compliance with city and state laws. The main focus is on domestic animals, but officers are also trained to assist customers with birds, coyotes and other species. Low cost veterinarian services and adoption events are held periodically to assist in controlling the growing population of stray animals in the city.
The Code Compliance division seeks to achieve compliance with the property maintenance codes contained within the adopted International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) and the Lancaster Code of Ordinances. IPMC outlines the minimum standards on existing structures and properties in both residential and commercial properties within the City. Code Compliance seeks adherence of these standards which assist in eliminating unhealthy and unsanitary living and working conditions within the City.
The Sanitation division consist of trash, recycling, bulk, and brush collection.
