Streets & Stormwater

The Street Division provides service and repair for concrete and asphalt streets and sidewalks. They are also responsible for traffic signals, street sweeping, crack sealing, and storm water drainage.
 
 Water & Wastewater

 The Water Utilities Division is in charge of pumping and maintaining quality water, water distribution, and sewer service. They are also responsible for main line repairs, service line maintenance, repairs and improvements to the water and sewer system. Utilities also provide water meter reading, meter maintenance and fire hydrant repairs.

Engineering

The Engineering Division's overall responsibility is to review, inspect & manage public infrastructure (streets, water, sewer, drainage) as well as review, permitting, and inspection of private development projects to ensure compliance with all city standards, specifications, and requirements.

Virtual Open House 

City of Lancaster Public Works Department held it's first ever Virtual Open House on March 11, 2025. Hosted by the Director of Public Works Rifat Alam, the session provided an overview of upcoming public works projects, procurement opportunities, and collaboration possibilities with the city, and was tailored for contractors, engineering, surveying & other professional service consultants.
