    This initiative has been established to promote goodwill and reward exemplary lawn care in the community. The purpose is to recognize neighbors who demonstrate above-average efforts in maintaining their property, thereby contributing to the overall appearance of the community at large. This is a great award, and the program is administered by volunteers. Every month we will be showcasing one Lancaster Homeowner in each council district and one business owner who has kept their yard in exceptional condition. The Lancaster Public Engagement Committee will vote for and choose a lawn that best demonstrates the qualities of uniqueness, beauty, appeal, and consistency with the following guidelines.

  4. Maintenance:

    • Quality of lawn.

    • How the property is manicured.

    • Weed control.

    • Trees and paintings.

  5. Creativity:

    • Overall Curb Appeal.

    • Originality of Yard.

    • Special Effects. (Water/Fountain/Lights)

  6. Aesthetics:

    The use of originality and creativity to create an inviting front entryway and a positive overall look to the landscaping and curb appeal.  The use of color and textures, garden art, hanging baskets and pots.

  7. Guidelines:

    Adherence to the HOA, PID rules, and City Ordinances

  8. Holiday Season

    In the months of October, November, and December the Best yard Award criteria will include holiday decorations and other seasonal presentations (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas/Hanukkah)

  9. Nomination Form

    This award is given monthly by the Public Engagement Committee and is intended to recognize individuals/organizations in our communities who are working to improve the face of the community. All nominees must either be living or working within the City of Lancaster to be eligible. Seven residential yards and one business yard will be selected as winners. 

    The winner in each district will be notified at the beginning of each month and recognized at the Public Engagement Committee Meeting. All nominations are due by close of business on the 15th day of each month. Forms received after the 15th will be considered the following month. Recipients are announced at the end of the month.
