The Lancaster Police Department’s Canine Unit is a valuable resource utilized by LPD personnel. A canine team consists of an on-duty canine police officer and his assigned Department canine dog. The team is available for assignments 24-hours per day. Canine team duties include conducting building searches for hidden offenders, locating missing persons, tracking suspects who have fled the scene of a crime, performing article searches, detecting narcotics and conducting public service canine demonstrations.
Meet K9 Officer Choe
Choe, a Belgium Malinois, is assigned to Sgt. S. Logan. Choe is originally from The Netherlands. He came to the Lancaster Police Department after first starting his training in Amsterdam, The Netherlands & completing his Police training at Saber K9 Working Dogs in The Colony, Tx. Choe is trained as a dual purpose canine, which includes narcotics services and patrol services.
Handler Sgt. S. Logan is currently assigned to the Lancaster Police K9
Unit. He has been with the Lancaster Police Department since joining in
2000. Sgt. Logan has worked in the Patrol Division, been a SWAT Team
member and has been a supervisor since being promoted to Sergeant in
2007. Sgt. Logan worked in the Narcotic Unit for 5-(5) years and
currently handles investigations regarding narcotics and related issues.
