Effective October 23, 1995 the Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Lancaster adopted Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code. The adoption of "Civil Service Rules and Regulations" primarily affects members of the Fire and Police Departments. Questions regarding civil service testing or records should be forwarded to the Civil Service Director. A copy of your driver’s license 2. Current certifications 3. DD2-1 4 if applicable (Member 4 copy) 4. The one page civil service questionnaire included wit h the application above 5. Copy of high school diploma or GED 6. Copy of college transcripts (where applicable) When is the next civil service test? If you are interested in being notified of a police officer or firefighter exam, please complete the on-line notification process. Click on the job title below to submit your interest in taking the next exam. Once an entrance exam has been posted, you will be notified to submit an official civil service application. Please note: Completion of the electronic testing notice process does not register you for an exam. You must submit an official Civil Service Application and receive a test number with a study guide in order to sign up for a police or fire fighter civil service test. Must be fully certified with the Texas Fire Commission as a Basic Fire Fighter AND must be fully certified with the Texas Department of Health as an Emergency Medical Technician O R 1 b. Must be fully certified or licensed with the Texas Department of Health as a Paramedic. ***NOTE: Out of State applicants must determine their 2. Must possess a current valid driver’s license. 3. Must be at least 19 years of age and meet all eligibility requirements of Section 143.023 of the Texas Fire and Police Civil Service Law. *** NOTE: Applicants over 35 years of age are ineligible to take the exam. 4. Must meet all physical requirements. 5. Must be U.S. Citizen. Requirements to test for Police Officer: The following are required for exam eligibility: 1. No Police Pre-Certification is required to take this exam. Must meet all legal requirements necessary to become eligible for future licensing by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. 2. Must possess a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. 3. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet all eligibility requirements of Texas Local Government Code, Section 143.023 of the Texas Fire and Police Civil Service Law and Lancaster Local Rules. *** Note: Applicants over 44 years of age are ineligible to take the exam. 4.
