About the Youth Advisory Committee
The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) provides for youth participation in municipal government in an advisory capacity. YAC was created to help youth serve the City of Lancaster. The mission is to provide the youth of our community with opportunities to volunteer and to take initiative on projects that will help to promote a positive change in the city. All of our YAC participants will have opportunities to create and participate in a variety of positive experiences that nurture self-esteem, reinforce positive attitudes, and are meaningful to both the individual and the community.
The board shall be composed of ten (10) student youth members, who shall be enrolled in a public or private accredited secondary school and who shall be fifteen (15) years of age or older, and two (2) sponsors, who shall be adults and residents of the City, and who shall be appointed to staggered terms. Appointments to the Youth Advisory Committee are made by the City Manager or their designee.
